About the Role
We are seeking a visionary and technically adept Director of Virtualization to lead our virtualization and cloud infrastructure strategy. This role will oversee the design, implementation, and management of scalable, secure, and high-performance virtualization platforms including OpenStack, VMware, and Kubernetes. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for innovation in cloud-native and hybrid environments.
Key Responsibilities:
· Strategic Leadership:
· Define and execute the virtualization and containerization roadmap aligned with business goals.
· Lead cross-functional teams in the deployment and optimization of virtualization platforms.
· Drive innovation in cloud infrastructure, automation, and orchestration.
· Technical Oversight:
· Architect and manage large-scale OpenStack, VMware vSphere/ESXi, and Kubernetes environments.
· Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning of virtualized workloads.
· Oversee infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.
· Operational Excellence:
· Establish and enforce best practices for security, compliance, and monitoring.
· Manage vendor relationships, licensing, and budget planning for virtualization technologies.
· Lead incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related issues.
· Team Development:
· Mentor and develop a high-performing team of engineers and architects.
· Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
· 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure with 5+ years in a leadership role.
· Proven expertise in:
· OpenStack (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Horizon)
· VMware (vSphere, vCenter, NSX, vSAN)
· Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE, or self-managed clusters)
· Strong knowledge of Linux systems, networking, and storage technologies.
· Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Helm) and scripting (Python, Bash).
· Familiarity with DevOps practices and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Preferred Qualifications
· Certifications: VCP, CKAD/CKA, OpenStack Certified Administrator.
· Experience with hybrid cloud and edge computing architectures.
· Background in financial services, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
