Machine Learning / Data Science Expert (Remote, Contract, project-based) — AfterQuery via AI Gig Scout

AfterQuery is looking for data scientists and machine learning professionals with 1–3 years of work experience for a remote, project-based contract role listed at $80/hr. You complete tasks similar to those done in data science, machine learning engineering, AI research or analytics roles. Work runs over the next 2–3 weeks, is asynchronous and assigned project by project, with an expected 10–20 hours per week for the projects you accept.What you will do: assist in building, training and evaluating machine learning models for various business applications; develop predictive models using supervised and unsupervised learning techniques; optimize model performance through hyperparameter tuning and feature engineering; and document methodologies, model assumptions and technical approaches.Requirements: 1–3 years of professional experience in data science, machine learning or related fields; strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on technical tasks; a Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or a related quantitative field; and at least one first-author publication or first-author equivalent work. Preferred: having been a TA for courses in machine learning, data science or applied statistics with a strong focus on programming and empirical analysis.
