Position Overview
JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to help build and scale cloud-native infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, and enterprise observability solutions.
This role will be instrumental in enhancing application visibility, improving system health monitoring, automating infrastructure deployments, and driving platform reliability across large-scale environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD automation, cloud technologies, and observability platforms such as OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, and Splunk.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage highly available Kubernetes environments across multiple platforms.
- Build and enhance observability solutions to improve application performance monitoring, telemetry collection, and system health visibility.
- Develop dashboards, alerting frameworks, and predictive monitoring capabilities using modern observability tools.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and recovery processes using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to design integrations and support new platform initiatives.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, ArgoCD, and Flux.
- Containerize applications using Docker and implement container security and operational best practices.
- Monitor platform availability, performance, capacity, and reliability while driving proactive improvements.
- Troubleshoot complex issues involving Kubernetes clusters, networking, storage, application performance, and cloud infrastructure.
- Create automation solutions and operational tools using Python, Go, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Promote DevOps best practices, infrastructure automation, monitoring standards, and operational excellence across teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes administration and container orchestration.
- Expertise with Docker and containerized application deployment.

Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as:
- Terraform
- Helm
- Kustomize
- CloudFormation

Strong experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using:
- Jenkins
- GitLab
- ArgoCD
- Flux
- Similar tools

Deep understanding of observability and monitoring platforms, including:
- Prometheus
- Grafana
- OpenTelemetry
- Dynatrace
- Splunk
- Grafana Tempo
- Experience working with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Strong networking knowledge, including:
- DNS
- Load balancing
- Ingress controllers
- Service mesh technologies
- Network policies
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) and/or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).

- SLIs
- SLOs
- Error budgets
- Incident management

- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise Kubernetes environments.
- Financial services or highly regulated industry experience is a plus.
