Software Engineer, Backend (Remote, Contract, AI training) — Micro1 via AI Gig Scout

micro1 is looking for backend software engineers to help train next-generation AI systems. This is a remote contractor role at about 15 hours a week, paying $30–$100/hr. No prior AI experience is required; your engineering knowledge is what matters.

You will create realistic, interesting and challenging coding tasks for AI to solve, covering feature implementation and bug fixes, and implement deterministic verifiers that accept reasonable valid solutions and reject everything else.

Requirements: strong backend experience in Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, C++ or similar; a track record building scalable services and APIs; comfort with debugging, performance work and automated testing; solid code review instincts. Preferred: a record of delivering high-quality, performant backend projects, resolving bugs and system bottlenecks, refactoring large codebases, and a strong grasp of algorithms and data structures. The interview and assessment stages are meant to be completed without outside assistance.
